Thank you notes from the 2017 Recipients of the MSSA Steve Metheny Scholarship Foundation.

"I would like to give a huge thank you to the Mid-South Sign Association. The Steve Metheny Scholarship is without a doubt relieving a large amount of the financial stress which college is so known for. This scholarship is allowing me to worry less about financial burdens and worry more about academics. I can't say it enough, but THANK YOU!"

Dalton Burns

"I am sincerely honored to have been selected as a recipient of the Steve Metheny Foundation Scholarship. Thank you for your generosity, which has allowed me to attain and afford a college education. This scholarship has helped pay for books and other supplies for this fall semester. Without your generosity, I would not be fortunate enough to be attending my top choice University and achieving my goals as a student and member of this community. Growing up, my family was never in the best financial situation, I never dreamed I could afford to go to college, especially not my top choice. Thank you again for helping me achieve my goals through your financial support."

Raquel Daugherty

"I will be entering my sophomore year of college majoring in Marketing at Lipscomb University.  While attending Lipscomb full-time, I also have two part-time jobs to help pay for transportation, tuition and books.  It is not always easy to juggle commuting, work and school therefore, I am truly grateful for the award.  I hope to use what I learned at Lipscomb to help make a difference in other people’s lives, the way that Mid-South Sign Association has made a difference in mine.  Thank you to Mid-South Sign Association and Steve Metheny."

McCalla Medvecky

"Thank you so much for being such a generous organization. Without your help last year the cost of my school would have been a huge financial burden to my family. Your continued support for students like me continues to motivate me to help others and to try my best in school to make the most out of the opportunities I have been given. My school, Rhodes College, is amazing. Without your help though I would not be able to afford such a spectacular school. I can’t thank you enough for your generous gift."

Connor Ross

"Thank you so much for awarding me with the Steve Metheny Scholarship.  I am excited to say I will be continuing my education at Tyler Junior College.  I will be studying Diagnostic Medical Sonography.  I appreciate being awarded this scholarship very much.  Thank you for allowing me to further my education with the Steve Metheny Scholarship."

Caleigh Reese

"I cannot express how much I would like to thank you. Your support has been extraordinary and is one of the main reasons I am able to attend Rhodes College.  With the rising cost of tuition many students rely on organizations such as MSSA to attend college.  When I receive help from others, I feel compelled to give back to complete a cycle of generosity.  The actions of MSSA has motivated me to give back in many ways.  I can’t thank MSSA enough for allowing me to be who I am today."

Connor Ross

"I am writing to thank you for your generous $1,564 Steve Metheny Foundation scholarship.  I am honored to be chosen as a recipient of your scholarship.

I am a senior Accounting major with a concentration in internal auditing.  While my focus is on mine education, I am also a member in LSU’s largest business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi, and a participant in LSU’s Center for Internal Auditing.  Upon graduating Louisiana State University, I plan to pursue a degree in audit consulting. Amongst my studies, I also maintain two part-time campus jobs to cover expenses incurred.  Your scholarship takes a great deal of weight off of my shoulders and for that I grateful.

Thank you again for your generosity and support.  I promise you I will work very hard and eventually give something back to others, both as teacher and possibly a scholarship to future students like myself."

Amy Speer

"I am sincerely honored to have been selected as a recipient of the Steve Metheny Scholarship Foundation Award for the last four years.  Thank you for your generosity, which has allowed me to continue my education at Newberry College."

Barrett Walton

"I am truly honored to be granted this scholarship.  I am a sophomore at The Military College of South Carolina, The Citadel with a major in Business."

David Parker Walton

"I would like to thank the Mid-South Sign Association, Steve Metheny and Karen Warr for awarding me the MSSA scholarship.  I’m sorry I couldn’t attend the conference this year as I have a part-time job. I had a lot of fun working at one of the booths last year!  This will be my third year receiving the scholarship and I really appreciate what the association has done to help me accomplish my educational goals.  I will be spending my junior year abroad in Japan starting in September and will use the scholarship towards my room and board during my time in Japan.  Thank you Mr. Steve Metheny and everyone else who helps with this each year."

Katie Wilson

"I would like to give everyone in the Steve Metheny Scholarship Committee a big thank you for this award.  My mom, Mandy Wisner, has talked about the scholarship program and her good friend, Mr. Steve ever since I was little.  Mr. Steve’s generosity is one of the many reasons why I want to go into the sign business after college.  If all goes right, one day I may be helping raise money for the scholarship program as a member.  Joining the family business has always been an interest of mine, and am looking forward to pursue it after college.  Thank you!"

Kayla Wisner

"A sincere thank you for selecting me for the Steve Metheny Scholarship Award.  This money will help further my college education as I continue to grow and learn.  My father’s membership in MSSA has meant a great deal to him as his relationships and contacts continue to grow as well.  Thank you for your support!"
